- - - THE CYCLONE COASTER STORY - - -
Living in Southern
California is the perfect place to ride and collect vintage bicycles. We found this out by simply riding our vintage bicycles
at the beach / swap meets / marathons / parades / car shows / etc. that there are a lot of vintage bicycle
riders that live right here in the area. We all met because of our similar hobby / passion for vintage bicycles at these events
as well as riding in and around Orange County
Here
is a little bit on CYCLONE COASTER, which was founded in Southern California in 2006 by two friends & vintage bicycle
enthusiasts Bernard & Frank, and it keeps growing with local and new friends alike that all share the same passion
for Vintage Bicycles .
The name "CYCLONE COASTER" was derived from the old wooden roller coaster called
the "Cyclone Racer" that used to be at the Pike amusement park on the pier in Long Beach , California, many, many years ago. We put our twist to the original
name and the actual logo that was used on the ride and it became "CYCLONE COASTER"
with the "COASTER" referring to the single speed coaster brake on the vintage bicycles we ride. We collect bicycles from different eras and every bicycle we ride is one we own. If people are interested
in a vintage bicycle, we can set them up with something from our collection or from one of our fellow bicycle riders.
We found out by riding
around Southern California that CYCLONE COASTER has been generating a lot of interest everywhere
we show up with our Vintage Bicycles. Seeing
all of the interest that was out there, Frank & Bernard decided that it would be better to set up one day a month for a vintage bicycle ride that
has been dubbed the CYCLONE COASTER Sunday leisure bicycle ride.
The CYCLONE
COASTER Sunday Leisure bicycle ride is first Sunday of every month where riders meet to ride along the beach paths in and around
Long Beach and special events that we post here on the website for all to join us for riding, networking, swap stories,
swap bicycles and parts, share maintenance knowledge while enjoying the great Southern California scenery & all year
around weather. This ride is an open invitation to people of all ages with any type of bicycle and at any riding level to
join us from the same starting point, on the 1st Sunday of every month, see below for details.
